How it works

You write. It builds. Everyone plays.

Three steps from an empty page to a game your friends can play — no code, no downloads, no asset store.

1

Write your story

A world, characters who talk, a way to win — readable words in any language, not code. If you can write it, you can build it.

World "forest":
Enemy "Grunt"
Win when: defeat all
2

It builds — procedurally

A real 3D world assembles beside your words: terrain, buildings with floor plans, furniture, people. Every prop is generated from code alone — no downloads, no asset packs — and the compiler proves your game can be finished.

3

Share with one link

Every game gets its own link. Send it to friends, play it together in live multiplayer, or publish it to itch.io in one click.

Cities you can enter

Every door on the street opens.

The city generator lays out whole districts of shops, houses and towers — and none of the doors are painted on. Behind every one is a building with rooms, furniture and people, built the instant you walk in.

  • 150+ street doors per city, every one enterable — the interior is composed the moment you press E, in about a tenth of a second.
  • Real floor plans, not boxes — a mission graph is solved into rooms with shared walls, then furnished and validated before you step in.
  • Rooms that read your script — name a place in your story and it exists, dressed and peopled to serve the plot.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is VXLVERSE?

VXLVERSE is a free, browser-based studio that turns a written story into a playable 3D game. You write plain sentences in your own language — characters, dialogue, items, a way to win — and a voxel world builds live as you type. It ships with 44 ready-made places to set a story in, procedurally generated cities where every street door opens into a real interior, drivable cars, spells, live multiplayer and one-click publishing to itch.io. Nothing to download, no game engine to learn, and no account needed to play.

Can I use VXLVERSE in my classroom?

Yes — it's built for the classroom. One 45-minute lesson: your students write a story in plain words and a real 3D game builds live as they type. It runs in the browser on any school Chromebook — no installs, no student accounts. Set up a free class code at vxlverse.com/class.

Do my students need accounts?

No. Students join with your class code — no accounts, no emails, no passwords. Class games stay out of the public feed, and only you, the teacher, have an account.

Does it run on school Chromebooks?

Yes. VXLVERSE runs entirely in the browser — nothing to install and nothing to update — so it works on locked-down school Chromebooks and any laptop or desktop with WebGL.

What kinds of games can I make?

Three kinds, each from a short plain-language script: story adventures (worlds, characters, dialogue and quests), wave battles (Mode: waves) and parkour courses (Mode: parkour). You can set any of them in 44 ready places — 25 outdoor worlds from forests to volcanoes, five city flavours with drivable cars and a chaos mode, and composed buildings like mansions, castles, schools and hospitals, generated room by room with furniture and people.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe your game in plain language using simple lines like World, Character, say and item — no code, no coordinates, no editor to learn. If your story says the meeting happens in the study, the engine builds a study: the rooms, their furniture and the people in them follow what you wrote.

What does it cost for a classroom?

One class of up to 30 children is free forever — class code join, class gallery and the full maker. When your class outgrows 30 or you want the full AI allowance in every lesson, Classroom is €149 a year per class: the 30-student cap lifts, one price, no per-child fees, no contract.

Is VXLVERSE free?

Yes. Playing any game is free with no account, making games in the studio is free, and a class of up to 30 children is free too — forever, not just during a trial. Paid tiers (Plus and Classroom) only add AI story help and bigger classes.

Can I share the game I make?

Yes. Every game you make gets its own link — send it to anyone and they can play your 3D game right in their browser, no sign-in or download needed. You can also play together in live multiplayer, or publish your game to itch.io with one click.

What does the code actually look like? (the exact VXLScript syntax)

A VXLVERSE game is only indented plain-text lines — there are no spawn, create, fill, grid, set or coordinate/x,y commands (those belong to other engines and will not work here). A complete, winnable game looks exactly like this:

Win when: player has 🌟 star
World "Forest":
Character "Mara":
say Hi! Bring me a star to win.
  wants: 🌟 star
item 🌟 star

Compiled and proven winnable — the Win when: line names the goal, and item puts the star in the world. The studio checks every game the same way before a student can hand it in.

The only keywords are World, Character, Enemy, Ally, say, wants, gives, if choice is, item, Mode, Music, Win when and win. Names and dialogue work in any language (Greek in → Greek out); keywords stay English. The full spec for AI assistants lives at /llms.txt, and an AI can hand you a ready game with a vxlverse.com/make?code=… link.

No engine · No download · Just words
